Fourteen years ago, we opened the doors of Jack’s Wife Freda on Lafayette Street with a simple dream: to create a place that felt like home — where strangers became family and a meal was more than just food.

A visit still carries that age-old New York joy of people-watching and turns a simple meal into something special. Guests come from all walks of life and from all over the world, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder in our cozy banquettes, sharing breakfast, lunch, brunch, cocktails, and dinner.

What began as a tribute to Dean’s grandmother Freda — her warmth, generosity, and hospitality — has grown into five locations across NYC. Each one holds a piece of our hearts, a reflection of our immigrant love story, and a love letter to the city.

Our incredible team is the heartbeat of this place and brings the magic every single day.
Our guests… thank you for showing up, growing with us, celebrating life with us, and making this place feel alive.
